These true “Damsels in distress”, are our grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts, nieces, cousins, and friends.
The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authorities (LAHSA), the City-County, Joint Powers Act agency
..that distributes taxpayers’ money to social service NGO’s addressing homelessness in its various forms,
…has reported concerning the ever-alarming state of our women, that:
…more homeless people are dwelling in automobiles, cars, RV’s (recreational vehicles), trucks, etc.,
…than the ones within the shelter programs, both having nowhere to transition.
However, emotionally and intellectually disturbing, over 40% (forty percent) of these auto dwellers
…are females of all ages, in various states of poor mental and psychological health,
…too often with children, albeit more fortunate ones with a male companion or husband, et al.
Unlike the visible homeless populations, who have billions of taxpayers’ money worth of advocacies,
…the ” invisible ” far outnumber the former, yet as our dear sisters, they are not desirous
…of being “seen” for many legitimately good reasons.
Concomitantly, many more are suffering the clutches of horrid, lonely, isolated dwelling conditions
…often in single-room residential housing; skilled nursing (short-long term), and rehabilitation facilities,
…which are understandably unacceptable and woefully lack the adequate attention conducive to our beloved ladies’ needs.
…to rectify this unnecessary tragic, and heartbreaking travesty.
We need first and foremost, “Hollywood and Broadway”, including athlete female celebrity personalities,
…who will be the initial, leading endorser(s) and spokesperson(s) for this most worthy,
…but must no longer remain silent, cause for/of women.
