Love: The Heart of The Matter – A Life For A Life

During the middle of the US Civil War, the Union was dissolving until President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation to end chattel slavery.  It was correctly recognized by the Lincoln and Radical Republican that war was not about States Rights vs. “Big government” oversight, or politics, nor even the struggling economy, but rather freeing fellow human beings from the tyranny of chattel slavery according the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution and the GOD of the Bible. 

This act of justice was truly one that bespeaks loving GOD and our neighbors.  Indeed, Jesus says, “Greater love has no person than this, that he/she lay down his/her life for his friends”. (John 15:13)

Combined with the Judaic-Christian ethics, the novel book “Uncle Toms’ Cabin” by Harriet Beecher Stowe, and Thomas Jefferson’s warning about The LORD’s concerns with chattel slavery, Abraham Lincoln made the war an act of national love to an oppressed peoples, even as the Bible commands.  See Jeffersonian_Warning

Americans must understand that what was began 150 years ago in which brothers gave their lives in conflict with each other that their friends might live, has to be completed.  “We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that the nation might live.” Lincoln-Gettysburg Address

It is factual that “…those…who here gave their lives…” did so in order to prove true the proposition of the founding fathers, that “all men are created equal…” by even by "holy" warring - crusading to free the chattel slaves.

“The Great Task Remaining Before US”

Obviously, this unprecedented act of national love is not yet finished, but must be done, if our nation is be salvaged.

We must heed the admonition and warning of America’s prophetic President, as he says, “It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work (of love) which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.”

Lincoln says that we have“the great task remaining before us”, meaning proving the proposition that all men are created equal, therefore, end slavery and its’ generational aftermath.

Lincoln infers that only by proving “..that cause…”, that is the proposition to be valid “that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom" or cease to exist.  See Gettysburg Address at Admonition_Warning

“All you need is love” – “Cause money can’t buy me love” the Beatles

The sufferings of Gettysburg and all other Civil War battles to end chattel slavery was the greatest devotion to the laws of love that a nation could bestow on behalf of a peoples. 

It is up to us, “the living” posterity to complete that business of GOD’s loving concern for the Descendants of Chattel Slaves, even according to the dictates and explicit instructions in the Civil Rights Act of 1866, Section 1, codified into the US Constitution by 14th Amendment.
