Fellow Veterans and Friends of Veterans:
As we know, the
ACLU has
joined in support of the
Annenberg
Foundation's report that demands the U.S. Department of
Justice and the California Attorney General investigate the VA's
breach of fiduciary responsibility to honor the Deed of 1888,
which is "to be permanently maintained as a National Home for
Disabled Volunteer Soldiers."
And we also know that Lauren Bon, board member of
the Annenberg Foundation, recently wrote a letter (attached) to
Sue Young, executive director of the
Veterans Park Conservancy VPC), disassociating their good
name from VPC.
If that wasn't a very heavy shoe to drop on Ms.
Young's prideful mission to build a public park on Veterans land
... well ... another very heavy shoe just dropped.
Ms. Carolina Winston Barrie, the Matriarch for
descendants of Arcadia Bandini de Baker, one of the benevolent
Land Grantors of the Deed of 1888, recently sent VPC a letter
(attached) tendering her resignation as a
member of the
board of directors of VPC.
This is a major force of opposition to Ms.
Young's unilateral mission to take Veterans land that was
exclusively deeded for a Veterans Home, and converting it into a
public park.
Veterans are extremely proud of Ms. Barrie's bold
and courageous stand as she staunchly defends the patriotic Gift
her Great Aunt gave that essentially ensured there never would
be a homeless Veteran in Los Angeles.
Today, Los Angeles is the nation's capital for
homeless Veterans with more than 20,000 dispossessed Veterans
who have been exiled from their rightful Home.
Veterans also greatly appreciate the tireless
mission of Ms. Barrie's cousin, Ricardo Bandini Johnson, who
is the spokesperson for the descendant Family. He upholds their
mission to protect this land as it was originally deeded.
Ricardo has attended several Sunday Rallies and was a keynote
speaker at a press conference we held, defending his Family's
Gift for the sole benefit Veterans.
There is a rapidly-growing and broad unification
of fellow supporters who defend this sacred land for Veterans
use only and oppose those who want to take it away. As a
result, we are witnessing a rebirth of the National Veterans
Home toward and the restoration of its heralded legacy as a safe
permanent haven for disabled and disadvantaged Veterans.
Thanks to everyone who supports this noble cause
on behalf of America's Veterans.
